LA, Here I Come!

Well, this is it...I finally made the move to Los Angeles!

Norman and I graduated from Berklee in May and had a blast finishing up school. We packed up all our things (and sold a lot on Craigslist), and moved to Hollywood Hills on June 1st. Been here for almost a month already and I can't ever imagine leaving!

This city is full of vibrant talent, curiosity, learning, and love. I have met so many great people here (and some creepy ones too), but the majority of people are great here. And not to mention the natural BEAUTY! I live within walking distance of the Hollywood Reservoir, which is full of rolling hills, wildlife, and greenery. I love nature and LA definitely has a large part of that right here in the Hills. I think most people when they think of LA think of a dirty, urban setting - but that's not true at all! You've got to see it to believe it :)

I got a new job selling Spa Certificates to a wonderful spa at 90% off so if you're in the Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area, check it out! (I have a special section on here). I really love meeting new people and hearing their stories.

All is well here...I'll make sure to update more often. Still working on finishing the demo, but as stuff emerges I will be sure to post it up!

Demo Recording is trekking FULL STEAM AHEAD!

 Hey guys!

So this is my last semester at Berklee and I am in the process of getting all my original songs recorded into quality demos and am going to compile them into an album, which I have titled "GLOW". As a songwriter, my goal will be to pass this compilation around as much as possible to publishing and record companies so they can hear my songs and hopefully imagine a big artist singing them. Then we will begin the process of signing deals on the "rights" of the song. I will get the writer's portion (50%) and the signing publisher will get the publishing portion (50%). Unless I create my own publishing business, which I am in the process of doing right now. What's a good name for it? I need your help. Hopefully with my own business I can make 75% of the song's money instead of just half. I am also starting a Jingle Writing business with Norman Kim! We are very excited as we are in a jingle writing class with the famous Jon Aldrich and he is giving us some great advice on how to make great money and great contacts!

I had another photoshoot yesterday and it went AMAZINGLY. Inspired me to write a few more songs from the shots that came out of it. Can't wait to show you all the photos!

If you'd like to donate towards my demo production and future photoshoots, please go to http://funds.gofundme.com/v9ng! Thanks so much for your love and support - I couldn't do it without you! :)

Internet for Peace

 Hey everyone!

A PEACE video that I participated in making at Berklee has reached over 400,000 views on YouTube!

Please watch it and help us to keep passing it around!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_PUKL1ZgM0&feature

We put a lot of work into this, and it ended up winning the Internet for Peace Prize. JUDE LAW loves our video! (http://www.youtube.com/internetforpeace.)

Our video was shown during the World Peace day on September 21st at the Paley Center for Media in New York. Among attendees were Shirin Ebadi, the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Giorgio Armani, and Nicholas Negroponte. In addition to this, the video clip will be featured on MTV Italia this week.

Through our volunteer work, we finished the peace project successfully and the song “Become One” even spread to North Korea via RFA (Radio Free Asia,
http://www.rfa.org/english/) and VOA (Voice of Americahttp://www.voanews.com/english/news/). Even though those radio programs are illegal under the current government, many North Korean residents were able to hear the song. Although the song is in English, which makes it difficult for the listeners to understand, the radio host explains the meaning of the lyrics and our intention regarding this project. The core idea behind the song was to plead with North Korea to create a more peaceful environment and to encourage the rest of the world to do the same.

I hope you enjoy it - and I hope you PASS IT ON! Peace :)

Photoshoot, Spring, and New Show!

Had a photoshoot today with Norman in Lowell, Mass. It was a GORGEOUS sunny day! Hope to get the pictures back soon so I can post some updated shots :)

Spring has finally arrived! It is so beautiful in Boston. Even though I'm going to move to LA in a year or so, I think my heart will always belong to Boston. This city is so rich, diverse, yet still somehow "untouched" so the true beauty shines through.

Wanted to let you know that Norman and I booked a show at All Asia (Cambridge, MA) on June 17th, so if you can all come out that would be great. It's singer/songwriter night and we're playing from 7-9pm. Bring your friends!

Rough Draft Up of New Song!

 Hey guys...

Wanted to let you know I posted up a "Rough Draft" of the song I've been working on. It's called I Know That You Want Me, and is very electronically driven and pop based - not like what I usually write! I hope you like it...my songwriting keeps expanding each time I write a new song. Hopefully more recordings up soon.

Also check out my Videos page to see the new YouTube video up (an acoustic cover of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance). Enjoy!

Always,

Jourdan
